Join us for a review of spotted lanternfly observations beyond vineyards, followed by its specific impact on grapevine health and commercial vineyard management.

Spotted lanternfly (SLF) is an invasive pest that threatens the health and sustainability of vineyards. Penn State has a team of research and extension specialists that have collaborated for several years to learn more about SLF's biology, population dynamics, feeding hosts, and impacts in natural landscapes and agricultural production systems such as vineyards. A brief review of general and recent observations and research findings about SLF "outside the vineyard" will be followed by a review of SLF in the context of recent research and observations of SLF's impact on grapevine health and commercial vineyard management.

As part of the Eastern Viticulture and Enology Forum Webinar Series, this session is a collaborative effort between these viticulture and enology extension programs coordinated for U.S. grape growers and winemakers.
