Agricultural Guestworkers in Ohio: What We Know and Where We're Going


DATE: February 15, 2023

Please join OSU Extension, with support from the Farm Financial Management and Policy Institute, and the Ohio Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs (OCHLA) to learn more about agricultural guestworkers in our state.  Each year, OCHLA publishes Latino Community Reports designed to educate and facilitate discussion on particular challenges and opportunities facing Hispanic Ohioans.  This season's publication focuses on the H-2A guestworker population in Ohio. Anisa Kline, author of the report, will present original research results from her survey of 285 H-2A workers statewide, and stakeholders from across sectors will respond to her findings, followed by a public Q&A. A reception with light refreshments will follow starting at 2:30pm.

Ohio Grape and Wine Conference


Dates: February 20 and 21, 2023

Early bird registration has passed, but there is still time to join us at our annual 2-day conference in Dublin, Ohio! This year's conference features key note speakers Dr. Molly Kelly, David Marrison, Dr. Mizuho Nita, Fritz Westover, and Johannes Reinhardt in viticulture, enology, and marketing along with many great OSU and industry panel presentations.

Grape Fungicide Spray Program Virtual Consultations


Visit the link below for available dates/times to schedule.

Consultations designed to assist growers with improving and optimizing their fungicide spray program to minimize the risk of fungicide resistance.

Growers can schedule one-on-one virtual consultations with Dr. Melanie Lewis Ivey, OSU Fruit Pathologist.

During the consultation, you will: 1) Review the effectiveness of your 2022 spray program in controlling fungal/oomycete diseases; 2) review and optimize your 2023 spray program

Each consultation is 60 minutes and is free to Ohio grape growers

2023 Wooster Pruning Workshop


Date: March 9, 2023

This workshop will cover basic concepts behind annual grapevine dormant pruning and training. We will also provide an overview of pre-planting recommendations for new vineyards. This workshop will be planned for in-person attendance but with a Zoom option for those who wish to attend the presentation portion remotely. This is a free event but registration is required
