Greetings, EPN

We hope you’ve had a wonderful start to the summer, and you are enjoying the environment in Ohio, your own backyard or neighborhood and beyond. While on the topic of local, nature-based amenities, have you registered for the July 11 EPN Breakfast at the Grange Audubon on Columbus’s Whittier Penisula?!

From the banks of the Scioto River, this venue and program will offer immersive indoor and outdoor learning experiences focused on creating and connecting communities to bird sanctuaries, native plant gardens, riparian forest restoration, and birding in both wetland and prairie habitats.

Learn more and register at go.osu.edu/epnJul23<https://epn.osu.edu/events/epn-breakfast-tuesday-july-11-2023-breakfast-birds-advocacy-and-conservation-urban-green>

The Grange Audubon Insurance Center facilitates many community science, nature-based education, and environmental awareness programs making it a perfect venue for “Breakfast with the Birds: Advocacy and Conservation in Urban Green Spaces.”<https://epn.osu.edu/events/epn-breakfast-tuesday-july-11-2023-breakfast-birds-advocacy-and-conservation-urban-green>

Join the EPN for coffee and breakfast with an excellent lineup of naturalists and environmental professionals to discuss the healing power of nature, and pathways for creating access to birding and conservation. We’ll learn about the presence of birds in metropolitan landscapes in central Ohio, and community science networks to connect local observations, populations, and research across the country. The first part of this program will be broadcast through EPN’s YouTube Channel.<https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIbosebk4Rh4LLEMKH_Q4Uw>

After breakfast, in-person participants will go outside to tour specific field-based research and learning sites showcasing ecological restoration and conservation stewardship for improving habitat for breeding and migratory birds. During this program you will learn about the Center’s four unique habitat zones and restoration activities (forest, river, wetland, and prairie) that both improve water quality and build climate resiliency.

We are excited to wrap up the 2022-2023 EPN series with you at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center on July 11!

Sincerely,

Joe and Callia
