[OACRAO] Certificates

Colleagues,

We soon will be offering certificate programs. We are new to this process, and I have some concerns about managing the workflow and workload that this will add to our office.

One of my biggest concerns is that we only have 4 fields in our system that can be used to report certificates to NSC. We do have a way to offload certificates into other fields once the certificate is complete, but my concern is that we may run out of active fields for students who may be pursuing multiple certificates, especially at our PEP locations. We already use a couple of those fields for something else.

Do in-process embedded certificates need to be reported to NSC?

Has anyone run into system limitations that cause reporting issues and what was your solution?

Also:

Do you allow course substitutions for certificates where only a few courses are required?
  *
Do you award embedded certificates as they are completed or hold until degree requirements are met?
  *
Do you print actual certificate diplomas for embedded certificates or just add to the transcript?

I appreciate your feedback. I am very interested in how each institution handles certificates.
