Hello,
We have been working to improve our Selective Service registration verification process and would love to hear how others manage end of term Selective Service compliance.
As we near the end of our Fall 2021 term, we would like to ask:
Questions:
* If you are updating the residence code (we are a Banner school and update via SFAREGS)
* At what point in the term do you stop adding a non-compliant residence code, billing non-resident tuition? What if the student turns 18 on or near the end of the term – do you give them a “grace period” to submit proof of registration for that term?
* For students who go through the term with a non-compliant residence code, billed non-resident tuition, and remain non-compliant into the next term, do you remove their non-compliant residence code for the term in which the residence code was placed, only for the term in which they submit compliance, or both/all?
* Example: Student is non-compliant for Fall 2021 and does not register with Selective Service until AFTER Spring 2022 has begun, so SS registration date is within the Spring 2022 term.
* What types of communication do you use to inform your male students that Selective Service registration is required by the state? (Emails, guidance counselors or High School meetings for CCP, marketing strategies, at admission, etc.)
* What age range are you using for your non-compliant communications? Do you send any communications to male students aged 17 and 3 months to inform them of the pre-registration opportunity?
Thank you!
