That is what Tri-C use to do hand out covers only as they walk across the stage. Now at the end of the ceremony as that walk from their seats we have host hand out diploma covers. They will receive their degrees after all audits are complete in about 30-45 days. And yes certificate seeking students attend the same ceremony.

At Mount St. Joseph University we do not hand out the student's diploma at the ceremony. We do hand the students a diploma cover with a facsimile inside that has a picture of the diploma paper on the front and on the back a statement that diplomas will be mailed out within four weeks if all financial obligations to the University have been met.
Last year we started to invite certificate seeking students to graduation. They would get the same diploma cover if they participated in the ceremony.

Subject: [OACRAO] Diplomas and commencement
We are looking into making a few changes with regards to our diplomas and commencement ceremony and wanted to reach out to see what other institution's practices were. We are a 2-yr college and in addition to associate degrees, we also have one-year certificates that students can earn either along with their 2-yr degree or just on their own. Here are the questions I have:
1. For institutions that do not hand out the actual diplomas at commencement, what is given to students (if anything) as they cross the stage?
2. For institutions who award one-year certificates, if a student has only earned a certificate are they allowed to participate in commencement ceremony?
a. If so, is their certificate handed to them as they cross the stage?
i. If no, what is given as the student crosses the stage?
Thanks in advance!
