Hi Ann,

The University of Illinois offers a live Financial Literacy Instructor Certification Course through their online network (ION). The course is designed to prepare and certify individuals to a point where they are qualified and comfortable to facilitate a course on personal finance and/or financial literacy. The course uses iGrad's Financial Literacy curriculum (written by Sharon Lechter) and meets the standards of a higher education course.

Not sure what the course cost is but if you can get one person certified, that person can facilitate a course/training for your peer counselors.

Subject: [Natfinwellness] Peer Counselor Curriculm

We are looking to start a peer counseling program but we don't have the staff resources to do personal training for all of the peer counselors to start them off on the right foot and get the program rolling.  Nor do we have a huge budget to pay for them to complete the certification programs offered.  Are there any on-line courses or curricula that you'd recommend to give these students the foundation they need?   The thought is that once we get a core group trained they can train the future peer counselors, but how can we get the first group trained?
