Dear Forum members,
Please join us for the next Middle East Studies Forum on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m.
>From Manuscripts to Paleohydrology: Reconstructing Central Eurasian Environmental History through Fieldwork in Uzbekistan
with Henry Misa
Henry will present findings from his 2025 fieldwork in Uzbekistan, funded by a Fulbright-Hays grant. His talk will explore four approaches to reconstructing the environmental past:
* Manuscript studies and local archival research
* Archaeological excavation datasets
* Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating and paleohydrological research
* Collaboration with local scholarly communities
Together, these approaches bring textual, archaeological, and environmental evidence into conversation and offer new ways to investigate the relationships between societies and their environments in the premodern Persianate world.
The event will take place in Room 142 of Enarson Classroom Building and via Zoom.
* RSVP to attend in person<https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/y7ybq1DnK3>
