MES Forum members, the deadline to apply for ACOR 2026–2027 fellowships is just a little over a week away, on February 15. In particular, please encourage your ABD graduate students to apply for the Amman Prize! Each of these awards provides for four months of research and residence at ACOR in Jordan and the project may be in any field of scientific, social scientific, or humanistic research whose principal concern is Jordan. We expect to make two ABD awards this cycle.

On behalf of the American Center of Research in Amman, I am asking you to please share the attached information about our 2026–2027 fellowships with your students and colleagues (or consider applying yourself!).

ACOR offers fellowships for undergraduates, graduate students, and postgraduate researchers. Some of these are for participation in an archaeological project in Jordan, some are for independent research, and some include residence at ACOR.

In particular, we would like to highlight a new fellowship we are offering this year: The Amman Prize. There are two categories of the Amman Prize, one for ABD graduate students and one for postgraduate researchers. Each provides for four months of research and residence at ACOR in Jordan and the project may be in any field of scientific, social scientific, or humanistic research whose principal concern is Jordan. We expect to make one postgraduate award and two ABD awards in this cycle.
