MES Forum members, two major College of Arts and Sciences honors were recently awarded to members of our community.
Professor Johanna Sellman has been named the 2025 recipient of the Deborah and Ronald Ratner Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest teaching honor in the College of Arts and Sciences. This award recognizes her exceptional commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, mentorship, and innovative pedagogy.
Professor Sean Anthony has been named an Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty distinction awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences. This title honors his outstanding scholarly contributions, leadership in the field of Islamic history and thought, and his service to both the department and the broader academic community.
These recognitions highlight the excellence of the exceptional Near Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures<https://nesa.osu.edu> faculty and the department’s impact across teaching, research, and service at The Ohio State University. Coincidentally, or perhaps not, both faculty members are featured in Keys to Understanding the Middle East podcast episodes. Dr. Sellman spoke about the Tutankhamen Exhibit Tour<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFoZhk3rD6U> that stopped at Columbus's COSI and Dr. Anthony spoke about Islam and Late Antiquity<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ9R-gip2NY&t=18s>
