[MES Forum] Antiquity Smuggling: Learn More About It This Week

This week, the Middle East Studies Center at Ohio State University is co-hosting two events focused on the critical global issue of antiquity smuggling in the Middle East. We invite you to join us for these sessions taking a look at current developments, locally, nationally and internationally:
1. Antiquity Smuggling in the Middle East: Global Risk and Mitigation Series

  *   Date: Wednesday, April 2, 2025
  *   Time: 5:00 PM – 6:30
  *   Location: 275 Gerlach Hall
  *   Description: This event<https://mesc.osu.edu/events/antiquity-smuggling> will delve into the critical issue of antiquity smuggling in the Middle East. Experts will discuss the global risks associated with this practice and explore effective mitigation strategies. The panel includes expert in Middle East antiquities and trade, Amr Alazm. 2. Artifact War Documentary Film Screening

  *   Date: Thursday, April 3, 2025
  *   Time: 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM
  *   Location: Thompson Library, Room 165
  *   Description: Join us for a screening of the documentary, “Artifact War,”<https://mesc.osu.edu/events/artifact-war> followed by a Q&A with Professor Amr Al-‘azm. This event is free and open to the public. The documentary follows an intrepid archaeology professor and his team of students as they go undercover in ISIS territory to stop the trafficking of Syrian antiquities.
