Dear MES Forum,

An opportunity to study Arabic in Jordan to share with your students, through Michigan State University.

Deadline: March 29th.

Arabic in Jordan is an intensive eight-week program for studying the Arabic language and Arabic culture. Students participating in this program will obtain maximum exposure in the Arabic language and the Levant dialect, which will help them converse confidently in the Arabic language, and research about the Middle East and its culture.
Students will participate in two main field-trips, cultural excursions  and many other extracurricular activities that we will organize in site such as the cultural clubs (Arabic Games Club, Book Club, Cooking Club, and Cinema Club).
Students will live with host families.
Students are required to enroll in a minimum of 8 credits. Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) courses will be taught in addition to a course about the Arab culture for all levels of proficiency. A course in Arab Media and another one will be taught to the Advanced level students.  MSU course titles, codes, and numbers will be taught on-site are summarized in the following table*:

We also offer an IAH  component. The name of the (210 +) IAH class is “Arabic Cultures through Arabic Movies.” Students can sign up for an equivalent oof one or two semesters of Arabic plus the 210+ IAH class.

These opportunities are dominated by students' skills, commitment, and their backgrounds from one side and the opportunities available in the Jordanian organizations and NGOs at a given time.
Requirements:

  *   Minimum 2.00 GPA for students with no prior language experience
  *   Minimum 2.75 GPA for students with prior Arabic coursework
Non-MSU students would need to meet the same requirements. Students with zero Arabic background can apply as we offer first-year Arabic courses.

NON-MSU students pay tuition as in-state students.
