Dear MES Forum,
Today at 2:30, the Middle East Studies Forum on October 22nd will feature two graduate students. Sydney Hunter’s research at Kimirekkum in Uzbekistan investigates how agricultural systems, the environment, and socio-political structures interacted during Central Asia’s Bronze/Iron Age, using archaeobotany to assess the sustainability of oasis agriculture amidst environmental changes. Shurouq Ibrahim’s dissertation explores how Arab Gothic narratives in modern Arabic and Anglo Arab literature and film use cultural trauma, gendered subjectivity, and spiritual-supernatural elements to depict the horrors and absurdities of colonialism and war.
Join us on Zoom at 2:30 and show Sydney and Shurouq your support! Sign up here: https://forms.office.com/r/LJ32rLd9gw and I will send you the Zoom link. Thank you!!
