Dear MES Forum Members,

On Tuesday, October 22 2:30 researchers in our graduate programs will share their current projects. Sydney Hunter of Anthropology, and Shurouq Ibrahim, of Comparative Studies, will present in this particular forum. Sydney’s research at Kimirekkum in Uzbekistan investigates how agricultural systems, the environment, and socio-political structures interacted during Central Asia’s Bronze/Iron Age, using archaeobotany to assess the sustainability of oasis agriculture amidst environmental changes.

Shurouq’s dissertation explores how Arab Gothic narratives in modern Arabic and Anglo Arab literature and film use cultural trauma, gendered subjectivity, and spiritual-supernatural elements to depict the horrors and absurdities of colonialism and war.

Show them your support! Please register for the Grad Student Research Forum<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=NlYJ61IQlUiVKx_53x0RIWR8EWNKyPFJoSSGjBlGJm5UNTFRQjVMSEI4WkVJNFI3TzVaVEpPQ0ZORy4u> on Tuesday, October 22 2:30 and we will send you the Zoom link (no in-person option, Zoom only).

Alumni, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and of course faculty, are welcome! 😊
