SCHOLARSHIP & FINANCIAL AID NEWS

[A red and white poster with a calendar and text Description automatically generated]

FAFSA & ScholarshipUniverse Feb. 15 deadline approaching
FAFSA changes
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid has changed. Initiated by the FAFSA Simplification Act, the new FAFSA is easier for students and families to complete - and it expands access to federal student aid.

What does this mean for you?

  * Go to FAFSA.gov and complete the new 2024-2025 FAFSA.
  * Access to the FAFSA may be temporarily limited or delayed during busy times.
  * Ohio State's priority filing date for the 2024-2025 FAFSA is February 15.

What's changing?

  * The new FAFSA is simpler to file with fewer questions to answer.
  * Eligibility for federal financial aid is expanding.
  * All contributors to the FAFSA will need an FSA ID. Contributors include the student, the student's parents, the student's spouse, a biological or adoptive parent, or the parent's spouse.
  * Tax information will be retrieved through a direct data exchange with the IRS once consent has been granted.
  * The Student Aid Index (SAI) is a new calculation that will replace the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).

Maximize your aid opportunities!
File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and apply for scholarships at ScholarshipUniverse with updated information by the February 15 priority date.
