Join Dr. Marianna Klochko for a presentation on major elements of Ukrainian culture, including folk art, costumes, architecture, traditions, holidays, dancing, singing, and humor. Bio-Inspired Computing with Dr. Golrokh Mirzaei

Computer science and biology have shared a long history together. Are you interested in knowing how we can inspire from nature to develop algorithms in computer science? A Taste of Culture: France and Italy Study Tour Student Presentations
Monday, April 3 & Wednesday, April 5, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Morrill Hall, Room 290
During spring break, a group of Ohio State Marion students attended a 10-day study trip to Europe to tour various locations in Italy and France. Each student selected a destination to study previous to their departure, and will present their findings and experiences to the campus community over this two-day feature of A Taste of Culture. Monday will highlight the group's tour of Italy, while Wednesday will cover the tour of France. Italian and French food will be provided free. This event is sponsored by the Office of Student Life & Diversity/Inclusion.
Etiquette Dinner
Tuesday, April 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Maynard Hall, Guthery Community Room
Join us for a three-course meal and learn how to present a professional image while dining in a formal setting. This event is open to all Ohio State Marion and Marion Technical College students at a cost of $5 per student. There is a 40 person limit, so be sure to RSVP to Shannon Niedzwicki at niedzwickis at mtc.edu
Apply for the Undergraduate Student Government (USG)
The USG is one of the university's most established and respected student organizations on the Marion Campus. It serves campus administration by offering advice and undergraduate student perspective in the formulation of campus policy. USG is considered the primary undergraduate student-based liaison between the undergraduate student body, the faculty, and administration. In addition, USG helps establish, organize, and support all student organizations on the Marion campus. Seeking Student Representative for Ohio State Marion Board
The Ohio State University at Marion is accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Student Representative to the Board. The Student Representative position serves as the student liaison to the Ohio State Marion Board for one year, and shares comments, questions, and concerns regarding academic programs, student support services, and overall experiences of Ohio State University students with the Marion Campus Board. The Student Representative is required to attend monthly meetings and has no vote on the board. Former representatives are eligible to apply. The position starts at the first board meeting of the 2017-2018 academic year. COMPAS Talk with Dr. Amartya Sen: What's Wrong with Inequality?
Tuesday, April 11, 4-5:30 p.m.

This event will be a livestream from the Mershon Auditorium in the Wexner Center for the Arts on Columbus campus. Dr. Amartya Sen received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1998, and in 2012 became the first non-American in history to be awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Barack Obama. Dr. Sen will be discussing the value of inequality-aversion judged as a basic human concern and to what extent it might conflict with other human values, such as economic efficiency and freedom.

Elizabeth Hartzler
Beth Hartzler is the Volunteer Coordinator for the Turning Point domestic violence shelter located here in Marion County. Turning Point provides essential services for residents in six surrounding counties. Beth will discuss her professional journey to her position at Turning Point, as well as describe the services offered at shelters like Turning Point and outline various volunteer opportunities for Ohio State Marion students.

Leslie Beary is the Mental Health & Wellness Counselor for Ohio State Marion. She is going to talk about her professional journey in becoming a certified counselor as well as the various wellness initiatives being conducted on our campus.
State of the Sandwich food truck to visit campus twice a week
After such great success last semester, the State of the Sandwich food truck will be on campus EVERY Tuesday and Wednesday, 11-2 p.m., through spring semester just outside the Student Center. The State of the Sandwich is a local food truck that pushes the motto: "Eat Something Different," meaning they create tastes from different states every day. OSU Online Readiness Tool
The Ohio State University's new Online Readiness Tool is ready to use! Produced by the Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE), the tool is designed to provide students of all ages with a glimpse of the skills they need to be successful online and what they can expect from an online experience at Ohio State.
Share this new tool around the Marion campus and encourage those who work with students to use it to help them gauge if they are ready to learn online. Below are links to the tool and a Box folder with images and a digital sign available for you to use.

Honors & Scholars to Host National HERU Conference
The Ohio State University Honors & Scholars Center will be hosting the bi-annual national Honors Education at Research Universities (HERU) conference May 24-25, 2017. HERU brings together faculty, staff, and advisors from across the country who work with Honors students to share best practices and research on high ability student development. Registration is open for Pelotonia 17! This grassroots movement began in 2009 with one goal: end cancer. Since then, Pelotonia has donated 100% of every dollar raised-over $130 million to date-to support cancer research at Ohio State. We invite you to join Team Buckeye<http://www.teambuckeye.osu.edu/>, the Ohio State group of Pelotonia participants, as a rider, virtual rider or volunteer. Riders are at the heart of the Pelotonia movement. They will be fundraising and cycling on routes of between 25 and 180 miles on Aug. 5-6. Virtual riders fundraise and build the Pelotonia community without getting on a bicycle. Volunteers are essential to Pelotonia's operations and help promote the Pelotonia spirit throughout the weekend of the event.
