RUOK? Day is an event that focuses on reducing stigma related to mental health issues and preventing suicide. It is a day to demonstrate compassion and caring. It's a day for each of us to tune into each other, offer a listening ear and lend support. This year's slogan is: Erase Stigma! We want members of our campus community to know about on and off campus resources and ways to access help, if ever needed. It is a fair-like event with activities, music, free lunch and lots of prizes.

Campus building open hours announcement
To enhance the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff, as well as the facilities themselves, the campus is establishing a policy, effective March 20, 2017, that formally sets standard open hours for all buildings on the Marion campus.
Standard building open hours will be 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday. In order to meet specific academic or programmatic needs, adjustments to standard building hours may be made during finals weeks, as needed or appropriate. Aside from the Alber Student Center's open hours on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, campus buildings normally will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. The buildings may be opened for courses as needed or particular activities during other times, with those hours established as courses are scheduled or activities are set. Science Cafe: How Can They Believe That? with Dr. R. Kelly Garret
Tuesday, March 7, 6 p.m.
The Warehouse Italian Dinners, 320 W. Center Street
Falsehoods were a defining feature of the 2016 US Presidential Election despite the best efforts of citizens and news agencies alike. Inaccurate messages came from all over the web, from parody news sites, foreign disinformation campaigns, and sometimes even the candidates themselves. Although we do not know how misperceptions altered this election, there is no question that decision making is hindered when citizens do not know what is true. This talk explores what we know about the causes of misperception, and what each of us can do to guard against common sources of bias and error.
Ohio State Associate Professor of Communication, Dr. Kelly Garret, studies online political communication, with an emphasis on how citizens use new technologies to engage with controversial topics. His most recent work, which is supported by the National Science Foundation, focuses on how online sources of news and information can contribute to both the spread and correction of misperceptions. He has over 25 research publications, and his work has been featured on television, radio, print, and online.
Apply to be a part of the Ohio State Marion 2017 Homecoming Court
Court members are chosen based on their academic success, leadership qualities, spirit, integrity, and achievement through their contributions and involvement at Ohio State. The Court selection process begins with a paper application. Based on application scores and GPA, individual interviews are offered and conducted by OSU faculty, staff, and alumni. The scores from the paper application and interview are combined with the student body vote, and the court is announced.
Applicants must have 30 credit hours by the end of the 2017 Spring semester and a 2.50 cumulative GPA to be on court. Court members then volunteer and serve as ambassadors during Welcome Week and Homecoming Week, prior to a student body vote and announcement of the Homecoming Queen and King.
Any questions, please contact Karen Leuthold, Program Coordinator for the Ohio State Marion Office of Student Activities | Diversity & Inclusion at leuthold.12 at osu.edu<mailto:leuthold.12 at osu.edu>. Applications are available starting February 13 and must be turned into Karen Leuthold by March 3.
