Internationally Celebrated Poet, Christian Formoso, to Read on Campus
November 3, 2015, 12:40-1:20, in the Student Center

Christan Formoso, born in 1971 in Punta Arenas, Chile, has published six collections of poems, including El cementerio mas hermoso de Chile (Santiago de Chile, Cuarto Propio, 2008), which was awarded the Best Published Work Award by the National Council of Books and Reading (Ministry of Culture of Chile, 2009). That same year, Cementerio was also a finalist for the Lira de Oro Ibero-American Poetry Award (Ecuador), recognizing the collection as one of the best books of poetry in Spanish published from 2007-2008.
Terry Hermsen, co-translator, was born in 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. He has published two chapbooks of poetry, 36 Spokes: The Bicycle Poems and Child Aloft in Ohio Theatre (both with Bottom Dog Press in Huron, Ohio). His first full-length collection, The River's Daughter (also published with Bottom Dog) was co-recipient of the Ohio Poet of the Year Award in 2009. He teaches English and Creative Writing at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.
A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine - A student based musical
Thursday, November 5 & Friday, November 6, 2015
Five Nights on Campus is pleased to present the annual student based musical, A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine, directed by Scott Persinger. Winner of two Tony Awards, this hit Broadway production was directed and choreographed by Tommy Tune. Presented in two parts, this campy, live, double feature provides more hilarity than any presented in Hollywood's heyday. A Day in Hollywood is a salute to the Golden Age of film musicals. A Night in the Ukraine is based on Chekov's one-act play, The Bear, and introduces the audience to a hilarious array of characters as featured in the wildly entertaining Marx Brothers' films. This student-based musical production promises a tuneful evening and lots of laughs! Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and can be reserved by contacting Emily Creasap at 740-725-6340 or creasap.27 at osu.edu.
This year's musical production includes:

1. Mike Cochran - Samovar
2. Hannah Fuller - Mrs. Pavlenko
3. Kris Kasotis - Carlo
4. Alex Kauser - Sascha
5. Shannon Lyle - Masha
6. Evan Pfeifer - Constantine
7. Jay Reid - Gino
8. Mckenzie Reinhart - Nina
Science Cafe: "Adolescent Morality in Practice"
Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at The Warehouse Restaurant
Featuring Dr. Chris Daddis, associate professor of psychology at Ohio State Marion

Most research on school misbehavior views students as passive beings whose acting out depends solely on outside forces such as peer behavior or classroom management. In his talk, "Adolescent Morality in Practice: How Teens Think about Everyday School Misbehavior," Dr. Daddis argues that on a day-to-day basis, adolescents consciously judge the nature and consequences of misbehavior. Accordingly, with his research on how teens think about everyday misbehaviors Dr. Daddis demonstrates that viewing teens as active agents is necessary for a more complete understanding of adolescent morality.
