National Depression Screening Day - Take Two!
On October 8th, Ohio State students were unable to take their online anonymous wellness screenings due to the national server crashing! However, the event has been rescheduled for Thursday October 29th from 10 am to 1 pm. Students can find Wellness Screening Stations in the lobby of the Alber Student Center and the SW lobby of Morrill Hall. The choice of screenings include: Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Eating Disorder, Alcohol Abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Each screening only takes 2-3 minutes to complete. Students who complete a screening will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Stop by to check on your mental wellness!
A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine - A student based musical
Thursday, November 5 & Friday, November 6, 2015
Five Nights on Campus is pleased to present the annual student based musical, A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine, directed by Scott Persinger. Winner of two Tony Awards, this hit Broadway production was directed and choreographed by Tommy Tune. Presented in two parts, this campy, live, double feature provides more hilarity than any presented in Hollywood's heyday. A Day in Hollywood is a salute to the Golden Age of film musicals. A Night in the Ukraine is based on Chekov's one-act play, The Bear, and introduces the audience to a hilarious array of characters as featured in the wildly entertaining Marx Brothers' films. This student-based musical production promises a tuneful evening and lots of laughs! Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and can be reserved by contacting Emily Creasap at 740-725-6340 or creasap.27 at osu.edu<mailto:creasap.27 at osu.edu>.
Cast of Characters
Mike Cochran as Samovar
Hannah Fuller as Mrs. Pavlenko
Kris Kasotis as Carlo
Alex Kauser as Sascha
Shannon Lyle as Masha
Evan Pfeifer as Constantine
Jay Reid as Gino
Mckenzie Reinhart Nina
EDUCATIONAL NOTE: "A Day in Hollywood, a Night in the Ukraine" was composed in 1979, when Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. In 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed and many of the former republics declared independence, including Ukraine. From this point forward, "the Ukraine" became simply "Ukraine," forgoing the definite article 'the' to demonstrate that it was an independent country and no longer a Russian colony. Learn more about Ukraine through the Ukrainian Cultural Association of Ohio, ucao.us<http://ucao.us/> or contact Dr. Marianna Klochko at klochko.1 at osu.edu<mailto:klochko.1 at osu.edu>.
