Ohio State Marion Will Be a Tobacco Free Campus Beginning January 1, 2014
On January 1, 2014, The Ohio State University at Marion will join Ohio State's campuses across the state and over 1,000 other colleges and universities in the U.S. and become tobacco free. This new policy is about creating healthier campus environments for our students, staff, faculty, and visitors. It is intended to foster greater respect for one another and improve the health of the Ohio State family. Additionally, adopting a smoke-free and tobacco-free policy aligns with Ohio State's growing commitment to environmental sustainability. Under the new policy, smoking and the use of tobacco products is prohibited on the Marion campus, including in buildings, athletic facilities, parking lots, and outdoors.

PALS, connects college students from the Marion campus with grade school children in the Marion area to provide one-on-one mentoring opportunities for kids. The Boys & Girls Club matches program volunteers with school age children and provides each a useful handbook to direct them through the mentoring process. Students earn 1-credit per quarter of independent study by attending mentoring sessions regularly, coming to a few meetings, and writing a two-page report about their mentoring activities at the end of each quarter.
