Dear Latina/o Studies Faculty,
Hope you all had a wonderful summer!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting many new Latina/o students who were on campus for the Early Arrival Program – a great group of students, with much interest in Latina/o Studies and a large number of Ohio homegrown Latina/o students! Looks like it will be a great year. Am writing with two quick updates.
1. In Spring, the Faculty Council felt it would be important to have all all-faculty meeting this fall to discuss all things related to Latina/o Studies, and to give everyone the opportunity – besides their contact with the Faculty Council – to participate in discussions about our directions. Please respond to this Doodle poll by Monday August 27th to indicate your availability for a meeting in September: https://doodle.com/poll/qu8a3bc7snrwg2cu
1. If you are interested in serving on the Faculty Council for Latina/o Studies in AY 18-19, please let me know and/or respond to all on list. The Faculty Council meets about three times per year, sometimes four, for about one hour each meeting. The Council takes up curricular changes, program planning, budget issues, collaboration with other units, website and advertising, and outreach to students and community. Generally, each Council member will work on a small limited task and/or do an appearance on behalf of Latina/o Studies.
BTW, please note that anyone on this listerv may send a message to the listserv on upcoming events and/or announcements – just use the “lists” address in “To” message above. Please also copy the official Latina/o Studies Program email, which is the second email on “To” line.
All best,
Theresa
