[Intl_DxMedPhys] MRI ACR Phantom Artifacts

I also believe that the artifact on the spin echo ACR T1 is Gibbs truncation artifact, though it is quite pronounced. I'm not very familiar with this scanner, but I would be inclined to disable filters (other than geometric distortion correction and image intensity uniformity correction).

The Site T1 FSE FLAIR sequence has a ring-like artifact that I often see in FSE imaging in the phase-encoding direction, more so on some scanners than others. When I encounter this, I first disable flow compensation, if it is enabled, and then I try swapping frequency- and phase-encoding directions. The width of and spacing between the rings should vary with echo train length and echo spacing - the tighter the echo train and the shorter the echo spacing, the narrower the rings. Dropping phase matrix relative to the frequency matrix probably makes matters worse. Admittedly, I am speculating a bit here...

Agree with the Gibbs artifact assessment for the ACR T1. It is possible that a high-pass filter was left on. We had this issue recently and had to turn it off before getting decent images. The Site T1 seems to be affected with motion. _________________________________________________

Your ACR T1 has Gibbs artifact; normally you don't see that on those GEs, so there may be some low-pass filtering turned off in a service menu or control variable. Looks pretty normal for a Siemens or Philips to me. Your Site T1 appears

Your Site T1 appears to have some vibration that is sensitive at that particular TR value. If you're not seeing it on your ACR sequences and your Site T2 that pretty much confirms it, but you can try running the Site T1 with a different TR (try, say, 1500 or 1900 ms) and confirm that it goes away.

The MRI is a 2014 GE Optima MR450W. All images were with PURE uniformity correction on and the coil was an HNS Head 12-Channel.

The phantom is the Medium sized.

First is the ACR T1 sequence:

What could be causing these rings?

Next is the Site FSE T1 Flair
