Do they turn their monitors off at night? My understanding is that LCDs do not really get permanent burn-in like other screen types do where the material is degraded. It is more of an issue with crystals getting stuck. Something that might help is to ask them to power the monitors off over the evening before you get there. Then in the morning power the display back on and display a fullscreen pure white for around 30 minutes. (i.e. use something like https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.whitedisplay.com__;!!KGKeukY!2f6eD_Yd8yLlYwytE-P_0X4854FivXi4YCVChyd55cU2X0p1S-k0s9TDYmFQAxUt25ttIKrPNAPCsOvuNKkYbqLEPcgvbGU-LLHf$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.whitedisplay.com__;!!KGKeukY!2f6eD_Yd8yLlYwytE-P_0X4854FivXi4YCVChyd55cU2X0p1S-k0s9TDYmFQAxUt25ttIKrPNAPCsOvuNKkYbqLEPcgvbGU-LLHf$ >). Then turn the monitor off for 15 minutes. Then back on and see if the band is still there.

Probably not applicable in this case… but still interesting: A couple of weeks back we were trying to replace an older mammo monitor with a Barco MDMC-32133 display. My PACS admin reverted back to the old monitor when I complained about full length vertical bands on the screen. When we reached out to barco they effectively said that could be “strain” due to pressure from packaging material that might partially correct with time. They said it “results from the shifting or displacement of some of the LCD materials from their most relaxed state”. They recommended trying to fix it by gently wiping the display like you would to clean it in the affected area. We will eventually setup that monitor again and give that a try.

Sincerely,
Scott

Has anyone seen this artifact on Barco displays? These are connected to Hologic SecureView workstations and we've had this come up on two displays this week. It looks like this is exactly where the MammoNavigator bar is on the screen but our rads say this window isn't on the screen for a long period of time, which makes burn in surprising.

One of these is pretty subtle but the other one is definitely easily noticeable.

Best,

Mike
