Hi DX list,
Sadly one my professors and a true giant in our field has passed. Please
see the announcement below. Dr Mistetta was on the faulty of the University
of Wisconsin at a time when other giants walked the halls at UW; his peers
included Herb Attix ( the scion of radiation dose in matter), John Cameron
( founder of Radiation Measurements Inc), Richard Mazess (founder of Lunar
Radiation Inc) and Ernest Madsen (the inventor of tissue mimicking US
photons). Please see post from Linkin;
With sadness, we share news of the passing of Charles “Chuck” Mistretta,
PhD, a pioneering researcher who transformed the field of medical imaging.
Dr. Mistretta’s work not only produced patents, publications, commercial
technologies, and clinical tools, but more importantly, it changed the
lives of patients and the careers of the many scientists, physicians, and
students who had the privilege of working with him. He was 85 and an
emeritus professor of medical physics, radiology and biomedical engineering.
May his memory be eternal and his contributions remembered by those of us
who followed after this great man and kind teacher.
