[Intl_DxMedPhys] Case report - PET "artifact"

Ive certainly had this happen…….as you probably know ……its from the 2 screws that hold the rods section to the bottom of the phantom.
In NM Phantoms , definitely stay away from sestamibi, Myoview , and Sulfur colloid doses…….as these may clumb to the spheres , rods, and cause non-uniformity.
If you are “forced” to use one of the above radiopharms……..I would recommend adding it outside of the phantom in a large volume , and then add it into the phantom

Here was a new one for me – last night we scanned an ACR PET phantom, three acquisitions on two different PET scanners. Interestingly we found what appears to be a unexpected clump of activity, at new location each acquisition. See pics.

We used water + FDG. Our group has a theory what we saw, but happy to hear input from the community…
