Lol, mine is ancient, some old research film, expired in 2011. I still use it all the time for beam width stuff, cutting in 1 mm strips, it will last for ever I suppose. I even usually leave the extra pieces in my bag on the scanner table in room...so it gets scattered every test. It takes a ton of direct radiation to expose, so you don't need to be careful if you are just using it for beam extent type measurements. Mine is type XR RV2 and XR RV3. I have offered before on the list, if anyone wants a sheet, send me a pre addressed envelope (large one, like 15x20 inches) and I will send you some.
What I do to it would probably make my calibration lab friends in our basement cry. ;)

Good morning list,
I’ve used Gafchromic film extensively in the past in a dosimetry context where cumulative exposure during storage was important but for the Gafchromic that you use for imaging QC purposes (CT, Mammo, etc…) where the baseline exposure is less important so long as there is adequate contrast, what would you consider to be a useful timeframe before the film is less useful? Just wondering if there is any downside when buying a box. We have relatively fewer devices here than I have had to support in the past so I’m not sure how quickly I will go through this stuff.
TIA
Nicole
