[Intl_DxMedPhys] Discovery IQ PET/CT Protocol help

Hi Mike,

Have you been able to verify the SUV inaccuracies with a phantom?

Or is this something that happens only in large patients?

In my experience, QClear and SharpIR can cause some overshoot of SUV in small lesions but that was something discovered when the algorithms were first introduced and may be different now.

Jon

Hello,

I have a customer who has received delivery of a GE Discovery IQ PET/CT 5 ring system. Their PET radiologist is unhappy with the BGO system's PET image quality for medium to large patients. I was hoping someone out there with a 3 or 5 ring PET/CT system could share their experience and maybe some protocol details with me to pass along.

Particular concerns involve SUV overshoot when detecting small lesions. Also the image quality on medium to large adults is noisy and unsatisfactory. Some things we've been trying to improve image quality are below:

1. Try turning on Q.Clear with Beta values of 200, 250, and 300
2. Increase bed overlap from 19 slices to 35 slices.
3. Changing bedstop acquisition time to 200 seconds or 400 seconds per bed stop for medium to large patients.
4. Using Z-axis standard for small to medium patients and Heavy for larger patients.
5. using Sharp IR

They are still struggling with image quality and SUV accuracy.

Additionally the radiologist appears doubtful whether this scanner will be effective for imaging PSMA or Dotatate studies.

I do not have much experience on this scanner platform so I would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks,
