OK – so I went into panic mode just a bit too soon. Found this in the Illinois regulations:

Maybe I should quit thinking about this stuff after 9:00pm😊

Nevermind . . .

Subject: Regulatory requirement - assigned dose to a embryo/fetus of a declared pregnant woman is NOT the dose to the baby badge

Just curious if anyone else has recognized that, for regulatory compliance purposes, we are not allowed to assign dose equivalent to the embryo/fetus from the fetal monitor?

NRC regulation (and most state regs are identical with regard to this) require that we use the DDE to the declared pregnant woman as the assigned dose to the embryo/fetus (20.1208 c)1).

This pretty much means that most all busy cath lab cardiologists would exceed the limit during pregnancy.

Am I missing something? Are we assigning fetal monitors for a reason other than regulatory compliance?
