Testing IQ, scatter dose, CTDIvol?

That mode has some different set ups possible. We use it every day. Physicians should be only quickly tapping on the pedal so the tube does a short scan. If they are pressing the pedal, the tube will stay on. You can compare the total acquisition time to the rotation time. If they are using the mode correctly, the beam on time should ALWAYS be less than the rotation time. If they say they need real time ct fluoro they don't.

I attached a paper we wrote which lets you calculate the physician scatter dose based on technique factors.

Below is a plot of image vs time, for CT fluoro, if the rad has a lead foot and is doing real time CTF you get "flat spots" on a plot like this,
I can monitor this now by pulling the CTF cases. And to use for rad/resident/fellow training. I show so you can see how you could also monitor this, even if you dont have ability to pull images from pacs, you can just go to pacs and look at image acquisition time tags in a ctf run to check for this behavior by rads.

Good Morning Everyone,

Does anyone have recommendations or personal experiences with testing the fluoroscopy (smartstep on GE VCTs) mode of CT scanners?

We are investigating personnel exposures in conjunction with the scanner’s procedural use and are testing beyond the usual state requirements, ACR requirements, and CT fluoro CTDI measurements.

John
