Those Civil defense meters are still used today by Industrial Radiographers, here in Canada. You can place one on end by the camera, view it 50 feet away, and confirm the source is inside the camera. Can't do that with a digital meter.Sent from my Galaxy
I wanted to share this as well. It’s a frame grab from a Big Bang Theory episode, and I zoomed in. I also had one of those Civil Defense survey meters and also a GM model. A colleague of mine took them. Robert J. Kobistek, MS, FACR, DABR, MRSE(MRSC™)

That Victoreen Panoramic survey meter is good for "clocking" speeders down your street (or getting them to slow down)! LOL
That's some great stuff. Lore has it an FDA inspector had the MDH on the back of a motorcycle when it fell off going 50 mph. The thing was so solid the inspector was able to complete the FDA survey!
I love the old wood cases that housed the electronics.
Thanks for sharing, Bob and thanks for finding a home for them Nima!

Hi folks
I cleaned out my storage locker in preparation for my occasional trip to the electronics recycling facility. I found the old stuff in the attached photos that I’m going to get rid
of. I was keeping it for nostalgia, but it’s just taking up space. Let me know if anyone wants any of it. I’ll give it away for free – you just pay the shipping.
Thanks.
