Stephanie:

I’m the last person you’d call an ultrasound expert, but I’ll take a stab at it anyway. I’m thinking that construction noise and vibration would be at a much lower frequency than those used in ultrasound imaging. Plus, I would think that there would be significant reflection at the air-tissue interface and the interface between the patient and bed, which would help keep external noise out of the patient.

But I don’t have experience in this scenario, as you requested.

Subject: [Intl_DxMedPhys] Construction near ultrasound

Hi all, We have a pending major construction project in our hospital that will be adjacent to our ultrasound area, separated only by a hallway. They will be gutting the space, moving walls, etc, so I anticipate quite a bit of noise and vibration.
Hi all,

We have a pending major construction project in our hospital that will be adjacent to our ultrasound area, separated only by a hallway. They will be gutting the space, moving walls, etc, so I anticipate quite a bit of noise and vibration. Does anyone have experience in this scenario? I’m thinking that the vibration could cause some issues with the ultrasound equipment and imaging.

Thanks,
