We had a 'product care guidance' notification on some lead free aprons produced by Amray (2023 to 2024 batch). The bismuth antimony mix used in their construction was found to degrade on exposure to ozone (which is produced by certain sterilizers or air purifiers). The aprons was since redesigned to prevent exposure to this 'core' material.I see the Xenolite as used in many lead free PPE alternatives (such as Burlingtons) uses antimony and tungsten but may suffer from a similar problem....Kind regards,Phil.

Thanks Andrew. I did not have all of the recall details, and this is helpful. I'm wondering if anyone on the list was a part of these claims made by their customers. On Thu, Feb 12, 2026 at 10: 53 AM Najjar, Andrew <Andrew. Najjar@ childrens. harvard. edu>

Hello All,
Some of my facilities have asked me about a voluntary recall published by a major lead device manufacturer. The reason given for the recall is as follows:
"We initiated this recall after receiving customer reports indicating that certain radiation protection
garments manufactured and received during the specified time period experienced varying levels of
attenuation degradation over time."
Does anyone have more information about this recall? My facilities want to provide communication to the individual users about the level of shielding that they actually received from these products but the company hasn't provided any data to my knowledge.
Thanks,
