[Intl_DxMedPhys] EXT MSG suggestion

When I was at Children’s Mercy, they lumped me in with the Radiologists, so I received $10,000 annually at the Assistant Prof level. Then after 5 years they lowered it to 8k when they started hiring additional physicists (or maybe they thought I was having way too much fun at conference meetings). This included all travel, membership, and MOC fees.
In my limited experience, if your group is under the medical school with Radiology (and if you have equal representation with your radiologist peers, as a faculty e.g.), you will fall on the higher end of the spectrum in this benefit. But if you fall under ‘Imaging Services’, you will probably be on the lower side. Needless to say, that’s not always the case.
But in my mind, bumping up this particular benefit might be an easy way to shore up recruitment abilities, because physicists tend to use this benefit much more than Radiologists do. Again, in my limited experience.

I suggest that the AAPM annual salary survey start collecting information on:
“How much Academic Enrichment Funding does your institution pay you per year?” starting next year.
This question would be part of the survey and would apply to those that are employed in-house of course.
But it’s a question that I think a lot of us are interested in. (I’ve seen this amount range from $2500 to $10,000 for imaging physicists.)
