[Intl_DxMedPhys] Hologic QC manual

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Hologic Austria was very helpful by asking you for a manual, which
describes required Technical Quality Control (TQC) evaluations for the CEDM
(CE2D) feature.
In the mean time, I got this manual

and was able to review also what Hologic recommends as a suitable TQC for
its CEDM feature.

Let me first introduce myself. I am a member of the team, which develops an
update to the Austrian standards document on TQC for mammography systems,
which this time covers not only 2D but also 3D, Biopsy and CEDM.
The TQC for the LE image is standard 2D, while for HE and recombined LE+HE
images other specific TQC measurements are needed.

As far as I understand now, Hologic TQC focusses mainly on AGD constancy
for LE and HE exposures and also on artefact evaluations and image quality
with ACR phantom of the recombined image (this image is used by
radiologists for readout).
This is good but in my opinion not sufficient. For image quality evaluation
in CEDM a better suitable phantom is needed, which contains iodine
structures of different densities on multiple background material (breast
density simulations). I have verified this with specific measurements by
using the CIRS 22 phantom.
The ACR phantom is in my opinion not suitable for evaluating CEDM image
quality on the recombined image, where also iodine contrast needs to be
recognized.

I would very much appreciate your view and experience on this subject.
