Hi all,
Just a PSA that if your institution happens to contract with a vendor who receives data from your EMR and CT scanners to calculate the CMS measures for excessive radiation dose or image quality, be sure to be involved ALL the way through the contracting process. My recent experience was that the vendor, in the initial terms, did not make any claims on being able to use my institution's data for their own purposes. After several rounds of legal back and forth, they slid into their terms of service the right to use any of our data for their own purposes, including but not limited to "clinical research."
If you've got a good legal department, they should catch that too and quash it. But in case legal doesn't catch it, and you have any input/visibility into contracting -beware! Especially if you don't want your institutions data going towards clinical research of a vendor who may or may not have interests that align with most of the radiology imaging community.
