[Intl_DxMedPhys] Calibrating monitors to DICOM 14 on non-interpreting Workstations

Hi Listserv:

I am not necessarily asking what software you are moving to when QAWeb MediCal stops working (it stops working with Windows 11) for your workstations. We have calibrated modality workstations, including technologist review workstations, CR readers, some (more than some) radiologist workstations that do not use Medical Monitors. (Although if you have found another software that can work with Barco Sensors, I would be so happy to hear about it.)

I am wondering how many other sites may do similarly.

Over the years I have found that the calibration of workstations such as CR readers makes a HUGE impact on the consistency of the display of x-ray images, and allows the technologists and the radiologist see the same issues. But with the new Enterprise, it has been repeated that 3rd party calibration is not yet going to be part of the package, and this puts us at a significant crossroads for our systems that require this. Both for best practice as well as accreditation purposes.

We are undergoing a mandatory upgrade to Windows 11 across our health authority. We can no longer use the external Barco LCD sensor to calibrate our third-party displays for both interpretation and at the modality review level.

I am trying to get an understanding of how unique our situation is, and whether anyone else has been able to tackle this successfully. You can either reply to the listserv or to me privately,

Thank you,
Pat
