Dear all,

Building on our previous post on effective diameter estimation and its
impact on Size-Specific Dose Estimates (SSDE) in thoracic and abdominal CT (
arXiv:2503.06644 <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://arxiv.org/abs/2503.06644__;!!KGKeukY!36xkVDszpr7uhPy9ISuecFW8kr-RPvAqgxu0Xp4FSA8P3QV6PcpU0USycQx8leTHM2tBiiGewEojFUDFgM8ayRQRGMcAS7tfDlYcmw$ >), we have just posted a
new study on arXiv regarding global noise calculations.

[2504.11578] A Comparative Evaluation of CT Global Noise Calculation
Methods for Clinical Image Quality Assessment
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://arxiv.org/abs/2504.11578__;!!KGKeukY!36xkVDszpr7uhPy9ISuecFW8kr-RPvAqgxu0Xp4FSA8P3QV6PcpU0USycQx8leTHM2tBiiGewEojFUDFgM8ayRQRGMcAS7saE1npIQ$ >

This study does not aim to compare global noise calculation methods in
terms of performance. Rather, our goal is to highlight the potential
variability introduced when different GN calculation methods are applied to
CT exams, as outlined in the CMS quality measure.

These findings support concerns raised by the AAPM-commissioned panel
(recently published in *AJR*) and are intended to provide a technical
perspective on the interpretation and implementation of the CMS measure.

Best regards,

Jie
