[Intl_DxMedPhys] HDR source living inside imaging lab

Hello list,

We have a site where they will be storing HDR sources like Ir-192 (an irradiator source) in the imaging hot lab used by imaging services (PET).

The HDR source is usually in a 5-gallon bucket that is shielded. (We've made a measurement of 0.9 mrem at 1m). But the bucket resides in a cabinet that has 1" shielding. However, it sits about 1m away from a dose calibrator.

I recall Ir-192 has a lot of hi-energy emissions. Will it (can it) effect the dose calibrator measurements?
