Get yourself a copy of Office 2003 or 2005. Install a virtual machine that can be ported to new computers as you upgrade over time, and give the virtual machine only what it needs to process and print your reports. Do not let it access the net. Let the host computer manage your email and browsing. I have used this arrangement for 20+ years, and the initial investment in time and effort has been recouped many times over. My computer can literally disintegrate, and I am up and running again as soon as I have purchased new hardware and installed the virtual machine software. All scripts, shortcuts, macros and settings are ready to go and contained in backups.
I would also argue that MS Office peaked sometime around Y2K. It was leaner and did everything needed by 99% of users.
