ICICLE Release 2025-12
The ICICLE team aims to build the next generation Cyberinfrastructure (CI) to render Artificial Intelligence (AI) more accessible to everyone and to drive its democratization further in solving larger societal problems.
It is with great pleasure that we announce 2025-12 release of ICICLE CI components.
This release includes the following components:

     *   A framework for analyzing ML pipelines and studying edge-to-center tradeoffs regarding function placement of ML.

  *   UAS Orchestration Engine v1.0<https://github.com/ICICLE-ai/UAS-Orchestration-Engine>
     *   An Orchestration Engine for Scalable, On-Demand AI Phenotyping from UAS Imagery in Agriculture

Animal Ecology

  *   Smartfield Backpack v1.0.0<https://github.com/ICICLE-ai/Smartfield-Backpack>
     *   A field-deployable multimodal data infrastructure that integrates autonomous sensing, edge computing, and drone-based platforms to address critical data acquisition challenges in animal ecology research.

This new software release introduces a powerful Object Detection pipeline featuring Few-Shot Object Detection to enable models to identify objects accurately with very few training examples. It also includes an advanced Image Annotator component to efficiently create the high-quality, labeled datasets necessary for training and enhanced Shapefile Generation with custom grid sizing and custom spray level thresholds for precision agriculture workflows.

Smart Foodsheds

  *   Food Equity Access Simulation Technology (FEAST) v0.4<https://github.com/ICICLE-ai/Food-Access-Model>
     *   This release have UI imporvements to add store and minor bug fixes.
