Yes, thanks for raising this Marlene. Neil, please add a section for LCSH updates and discussion. Aaron and I can update on Jewish-Arab relations/Arab-Israeli conflict headings (presentation tomorrow!), and I can share a new project being undertaken to change BC/AD to BCE/CE in NARs and SARs.

How do we advance the Christian biases in subject headings? Are we to assume that the only way to change them is to propose each one individually? That’s a lot of work. I think it’s similar to the case of Marranos which was changed by some agreement that it was not a proper term. Of course, each one has to be worked on, but as a set of terms, they have to be addressed as needing modification.

In the meantime, here’s a provisional agenda for the meeting

•             Approval of minutes
•             Committee membership and chair.
•             Possible modification of the current LC Classification Schedule caption in the BM674.6-BM674.76 range (Haggadot texts) to include the option of cuttering for commentor (or if necessary, publisher).(Aaron)
•             Update on droppable title words? (Aaron)
•             Updates from NLI? (David)
•             Training for new catalogers (Haim, Jasmin, Aaron)
•             Review and approval revised patronymic name policy on NARs (committee, Jasmin, Aaron).
