[Heb-NACO] Marranos in LCC/LCSH on January monthly list (was: E: Roger's Subject headings tentative monthly list 1601)

I’m not thrilled with having to use the term “Marrano” in my proposals, but since that is the term used for the DS/BM materials, I feel obligated to use the same terminology with Mishpat Ivri in KBM. It would not be appropriate for me to make a proposed change for a non-law heading used widely by Judaica catalogers. The book being cataloged was on their legal status under Jewish law (i.e. of Jews from the Spanish Empire who nominally converted to Catholicism and then fled to a country where they could openly be Jewish). The most likely replacements, “Conversos” and “Anusim” both have their own problems (particularly the latter) --Aaron
