[Geog-dept] Peter Hall

Some of you will be aware of Peter Hall. Alas he died yesterday. An obituary is here: http://www.theguardian.com/cities/2014/jul/31/sir-peter-hall

He was 82 but if you go to YouTube and see some of his recent presentations, it is clear that he remained very vigorous. So I for one am surprised at his demise.

He belonged to the same cohort of students as Michael Chisholm and Peter Haggett (in fact he is mentioned in the foreword to Locational Analysis in Human Geography.) He was not particularly involved in the spatial-quantitative revolution but he was an early spatializer and was important in getting the journal Regional Studies going.

RIP Peter.
