I am pleased to update everyone with this week's good news.

Debangana Bose won 1st prize at the Hayes Graduate Student Research Forum, which took place last week. Jim DeGrand will be arranging to display the winning poster in our hallway. Debangana's adviser is Nancy Ettlinger.

I am delighted to report that Ying Song has received a second recognition for her dissertation. She has been awarded a prize from the Transport Geography Specialty Group. Ying's adviser is Harvey Miller.

More good news from the graduates: Chris Hartmann has accepted a tenure track position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at SUNY Old Westbury, starting this fall. His adviser is Becky Mansfield. Stay tuned for acceptances of other pending offers!

Good wishes to all the new prospective Graduate students visiting today and for the other panel and special events in the department.

>From the faculty, more very good news and well worth a mention: Dan Sui has been appointed as a Distinguished Professor of Arts and Sciences. This was awarded by the Dean late last year at the completion of Dan’s service as Chair. Congrats!
