Panel description: This virtual panel will explore the intersections and politics of disability, Black womanhood, and Black Excellence within the Historically Black College & University (HBCU) system. Black women with disabilities offer a unique perspective on reimagining the accessibility of the HBCU experience. In a world where HBCUs often influence ideas about Black advocacy, scholarship, and achievement, this panel will specifically uplift the experiences of Black disabled women within these educational spaces.

Panelists are:

· Nichelle N. Cook (Spelman College C’2009; Xavier University of Louisiana C’2016, 2018), Founder/Principal Consultant, Practegy LLC

· Rasheera Dopson (Morehouse School of Medicine C’2022), Community Research Advocate and Scientist

· Ola Ojewumi (Howard University, attended from 2008-09), Founder and Director of Project ASCEND

· Britney Wilson (Howard University C’2012), Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Civil Rights and Disability Justice Clinic at New York Law School

Moderator: Lauren Proby (Spelman C'2025), Coelho Center Disability Law, Policy, & Innovation Fellow at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles
