[Csrfac] FW: Italian 'Cartelami' presented in Columbus 3/2 - 3/3

A team of researchers within the College of Arts and Humanities, headed by Amy Shuman<http://english.osu.edu/people/shuman.1> of English and Kay Bea Jones<http://knowlton.osu.edu/people/jones> of Architecture, has embarked upon a project to study and present to the public recently discovered cartelami from Genoa and other Italian cities.  Cartelami are life-sized, vividly painted scenarios on cardboard that were erected in churches during Easter week from the Renaissance through the 18th century.  The cartelami helped to make the Biblical narratives of Christ’s death and resurrection come alive for congregations.  The first event sponsored by this group, which is free and open to the public, will be a talk by the Italian curators of the cartelami at the Wexner Center<http://wexarts.org/public-programs/franco-boggero-and-dr-danilo-galliani-cartelami-sacred-scenography-and-visual> on Wednesday, March 2 at 4:00, followed by a reception at the Wexner's Heirloom Cafe.  A film on the cartelami will be shown at the Columbus Museum of Art<http://www.columbusmuseum.org/?post_type=cma_event&p=17216> the evening of March 3, followed by discussion with both Italian and American members of the research team.
