Following up on our successful event last week, we are thrilled to announce
our third pop-up event prior to the conference. Please join us on Friday,
July 23, for:

*Comics at CSUN: A Faculty Community Reflects on Comics Pedagogy in the Long
Crisis of 2020-2021*

This event features a dynamic group of faculty from a broad range of CSUN
programs, including Asian American Studies, English, Liberal Studies, and
Queer Studies, to discuss diverse perspectives on teaching and the multiple
challenges of adapting to the ongoing pandemic as well as multiple forms of
systemic injustice that mark the current moment. Building on digital
pedagogy specialist Andrea Kaston’s notion of *resilient design*—the
architectural principle of “designing structures that are responsive to
their environments” (
andreakastontange.com/teaching/resilient-design-for-remote-teaching-and-learning,
8 June 2020)—the following group of CSUN comics instructors will hold a
lively communal dialogue about strategies they have used to make their
comics classes more “responsive to their environments” since CSUN’s
transition to remote learning in the Spring of 2020:

   - Dylan Altman (English)
   - Tina Bertacchi-Love (English and Liberal Studies)
   - Kimberly Teaman Carroll (Asian American Studies and English)
   - Nicole Eschen Solis (English and Queer Studies)
   - Tomo Hattori (Asian American Studies)
   - Krystal Howard (Liberal Studies)
   - Sean Pessin (English, Humanities, and Liberal Studies)
   - Rebecca Spitler-Lawson (English)

*This pop-up event will take place from 4:30-6:00 p.m. (CST) on July 23,
and will stream live from California State University, Northridge.*
