[Comicsstudiessociety] CSS 2021 Conference: Pop-Up #2

Following up on our successful event last week, we are thrilled to announce
our second pop-up event prior to the conference. Please join us on Friday,
July 16, for:

*Community Building in Latin/x American Comics*

This event will feature the following talks, with a moderated Q&A to follow:

   - Fernanda Diaz-Basteris (Cornell College): Latinx Graphic Narratives of
   Disaster
   - John Petrus (Grinnell College): Prevention, Education, and Access:
   Building Community through US Latinx HIV/AIDS Comics
   - Jessica Rutherford (Central Connecticut State University): The Role of
   Ritual Food Production in Mesoamerican Indigenous Communities as Presented
   in Daniel Parada’s *Zotz: The Serpent and the Shield*
   - Brittany Tullis (St. Ambrose University): Building Community in Peru
   via Documentary Comics: Jesús Cossio and *La guerra por el agua*


*This pop-up event will take place from 10:00-11:30 a.m. (CST) on July 16,
and will stream live from Grinnell College.*

This is the second of four pop-up events that we'll be running each Friday
in advance of the conference; all will be held at different times to try to
accommodate various schedules and time zones. This event will be recorded
and made available for viewing by request for all registered conference
participants. you can't make it tonight but would like to access the
recording, drop us a line via email. Recordings will be made available for
thirty days.
