[Comicsstudiessociety] Comics history (pre-comicbook)?

Hi, all,

As I begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel of this bizarre, tragic semester, I am looking forward to getting back to the thing I love most—comics history before the rise of the comic book: newspaper comics, illustrated magazines, and what are sometimes defined as “proto”-comics (pre-1840s caricature, etc). If anyone has an interest in such things and wishes to create a Comics Studies Society working group of sorts (basically just a space to share discoveries and raise questions) write me off-list.

Best,

Jared
