Imagine yourself at Windsor Castle with the sounds of a wind band resonating in the Grand Reception Room and perhaps the monarch himself joining in the performance.



You can do just that when The Early Music in Columbus series continues with Piffaro, the Renaissance Band exploring the legacy of the Bassano family of musicians. Brought from Venice to London by Henry VIII, the Bassanos influenced the course of music history for decades as performers, composers, and influential members of the court.



Join with all who love early music for this performance, which promises to delight and shed new light on your perception of the Tudor court.

When Piffaro comes to town, you will be treated to the sounds of a Renaissance band and you will see a remarkable array of musical instruments played by the versatile members of the ensemble. In fact, no member of Piffaro will perform on fewer than four instruments! The ensemble's ever-expanding instrumentarium includes over 40 shawms, dulcians, sackbuts, recorders, krumhorns, bagpipes, lutes, guitars, harps, and a variety of percussion — all careful reconstructions of instruments from the period.
